Well, I'm guessing something is wrong with your screen if it isn't working. But there is a way to get past the 'align screen' screen.
Connect the device to your computer.
From activesync, browse your device, and delete a file called 'welcome' from the windows/startup folder. (haven't done this in a while, so those might not be the exact names)
It should then start up without going through the whole setup thing that it does the first time you start it up.

Unhappy cannot delete

What do you do when it tells you that
"Welcome.lnk could not be deleted. You do not have permission to delete this item"

??????

Default Surgical precision

Hi,

I've just been experiencing this problem. It started when I updated the latest htc official rom-update (dating back to february 2009 for Norwegian users). I thought what the hell... I do get connected to activesync, so I'll just update the rom... that didn't help. I couldn't delete any files either, even though I'm an administrator on my windows 7 os. So at last I pulled out my stylus again and and used it with surgical precision... That was it...

Hope it helps...
