Rom Release! Dell Axim x50 WM6 A03 17741 - Alpha1

Well, it appears that in the making of a WM6.1 ROM for the X50, I did manage to get a WM6 ROM working nicely so far. I'll still call this ROM an Alpha ROM since I've not tested it much, but it may very well be a damn good ROM. And have little or no bugs at all. Please download it when the link appears in a little while, and test it while I make a WM6.1 ROM !

REMINDER!
Please do not expect a perfect ROM. This ROM is an Alpha ROM since I've not tested it myself much!! So somethings may/will not work!

Thanks for the rls I just got my first PPC Dell x50 and a have a few questions.

1. I updated from WM2003se to WM5 A01, do i need to install the WM A02 in order to install this RLS of WM6?

2. If i have to install WM A02...or even for this RLS...do I follow these directions?

1) Unpack files from archive into root of FAT32 SD-Card.
2) Insert the SD-Card into your Axim and start the SD Image Loader by Pressing Wireless + Power + Reset
3) The Image Loader will search for flash images on your SD-Card.
4) Press the action key twice, this starts the update process.
5) After the process is finished you will be asked to hard reset your device. Follow this instruction and wait for the OS to load.

I've upgraded from WM5 A02 to this ROM successfully, but the new ROM cannot recognize both CF and SDHC card. I tried several SDHC patches, all failed to be installed.

any idea?

Lenny - Well Done on bringing the X50 into line with the big boys. Only one problem so far with WM6.1 L04 is, I use a Class 4 32Gb SDHC card (works fine with my X51V) but the X50 will not see it. Not ANY of it. Stick a 2Gb SD card in place of the 32Gb card, and that shows up. Any ideas Lenny?

Ok, I'm probably just repeating what others have said but I'm finding a few issues that I would like to know how to resolve.

1. CF card is MIA
2. WPA-TSIK not working
3. Wireless info screen empty (Not really that important I hasten to add)
4. Bluetooth is patchy at best, I've had no luck using ActivSync via BT, I cannot get TomTom Navigator to connect to my BT GPS unit
5. Tried to upgrade to 6.1 to see if that had better luck or at the very least downgrade back to WM5 A02 but the whole Wireless + Power + Reset process just does not work, it just jumps straight to the factory settings screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated or if any has had similar problems and has a resolution that would be great too.

Hi, got the 6.5 working on my X50 mid and absolutly love it, everything is wokring except the hi capacity SD which was woking on 5.0 a02 with patch but the patch will not install on 6.5.

I think it's worth it though, since 6.5 is running about 80% faster then 5.0 was, faster even then it was with 2003SE so I am well pleased.

Thanks so much for making my 50 buck investment in this old X50 worth so much more now with a modern OS!
