Here is my first release of WM6.5 for the X50!!! I'll still call this ROM an Alpha ROM since I've not tested it much, but it may very well be a damn good ROM. And have little or no bugs at all. Please download it, and test it !
REMINDER! Please do not expect a perfect ROM. This ROM is an Alpha ROM since I've not tested it myself much!! So somethings may/will not work!

I guess this ROM isn't popular. Only like 4 people have downloaded it, and still no response from them either...

Hi Lenny, i'm hoping to try this later on.
Is this version feature complete (ie new start menu, titanium, compactflash, wifi, bluetooth etc?) Also, does this suffer from the filesys problem? I've been toying with the idea for a while of ditching my x50v and buying an x51v, but if this solves the issue then i wouldnt really have a need to change. Thanks, Mark ps as soon as i get a chance to test this ROM, i'll get back to you and let you know any bugs etc i find |

Yet again, another ROM release to prevent my Axim from being reduced to obsolescence oblivion. I haven't exhausted this ROM yet, but here are my observations so far:
Performance: Very snappy. Maybe slightly less so than WM6.1, but definitely better than WM5. Finger scrolling is surprisingly smooth. External Memory: CF (yay!) and SD both work, but not SDHC (neither CF nor SDHC worked in WM6.1, HTC SDHC driver refused to install.)Bluetooth: Stereo BT headphones work (A2DP and AVRCP), but OBEX file transfer doesn't work. ActiveSync over BT also fails. I'll test Serial over BT later with my GPS some time later; I believe it worked with WM6.1 (which has the same BT pass/fail behavior). Wi-Fi: WPA IN MIXED TKIP/AES FINALLY WORKS!!! This was not the case in WM5 (router must be set strictly to WPA-TKIP) or WM6.1 (WPA failed, period, WEP only). Some people stated that AES was not available back with WM6.1. I'm assuming this is a hardware limitation that can't be overcome with a firmware update (hence the reason for the WPA2 standard, which mandates AES). Interface: Great Microsoft...you totally blew us away with your new hexagonal Start Menu...the guys at Apple and Palm are totally creaming their pants... Sarcasm aside, I'm glad MS is finally taking finger-friendly navigation seriously, though it's still not quite there yet. And the Today screen hasn't changed since...PPC2000? I suppose this is why we have software like ThrottleLauncher. Programs: WMP is missing from the Start Menu, though available when opening an MP3 or opening its executable manually. Mobile Office, on the other hand, seems to be completely MIA. Also, if any of you have My Mobiler installed, disable it, because it'll freeze WM6.5 upon the first click. Final Thoughts: Mobile Office and WMP are probably the easiest problems to fix, and once that happens, I can see a very usable ROM. The Broadcom BT stack might also improve Bluetooth, but that's usually the very last thing I test because it screws up ActiveSync at times. As for SDHC, the HTC SDHC driver is floating all around the Internet, and it's known to work with the x50(v?) WM5, but refuses to install on 6-6.5, so is it possible to force integrate it, or are there too many differences for it to be that simple? In any case, thank you very much! I look forward to any updates. |

First, i am new to the forum, and this is my first post.
I have installed L14 on my x51v and it works great so far. It seems faster than the L11 I had on it previously. I noticed improved performance in Windows Media Player. Before with 6.1, I would rapidly get an out of system resources error. Now with 6.5, I can listen to music with no interuption. I know the system is inherently low on RAM with this new ROM, but it seems to handle it very well. So, Thanks Lenny! Since I have had such success with it, a friend of mine who has an x50 became interested. I am currently putting the x50 6.5 ROM on his axim, and I will see how it goes. If it works as well on his x50 as the L14 did on my x51, I am sure he will be pleased, since he was getting ready to toss it. Thanks again! |

<thinking>hmmmmm...I wonder if Lenny's rom will actually work with my rom kitchen, considering how he removed the dsm files (the files nessessary to actually edit the rom) to make the build smalller</thinking>

I have been trying without success to get my friend's x50v to accept either ROM, the L09 6.1 or the L12 6.5. I have placed the unzipped files on 3 different SD cards and each time I get "No suitable image file" error. I have tried using a 256MB card, a 1GB card and a 2GB card, and get the same error each time. I have tried this with each of these cards freshly formatted and with only the 2 ROM files on the card. I used the 256MB card successfully when I upgraded my x51v. No issues, the install went smoothly. Any suggestions for the x50v? Is it the same flash procedure as the x51v. Hold down the wireless and the power button, then hit the soft reset while still holding the wireless and power buttons untils you see the SD loader screen? Are there limitations as to the SD card needed?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, |

Hi guys ^^ [first of all a very big thx goes to lenny for your efforts]...first post here
I am a fresh x50v user (who finds trouble legitimally with his WPA2 home network) and i just succeded flashing my little one with the already-very-well-known procedure..if i could give you [clute] an advice i'd say to hold the power+wireless combination a little longer even after the Update screen coming. I tried 2 times before the Holy one. Let us know if this works...i hope so. Regards Fra |
