1) Download Lenny's L10 here:
2) Format a normal SD Card to FAT32 using your PC. 3) Extract Lenny's WinRAR file "LennySh_AximX51v_WM6_1_UC_L10_20080713_Lenny_1.rar" to a folder. 4) Copy the 2 extracted files:
5) Press and hold Power + Wireless. 6) Press and release the soft reset button on the back using the stylus. 7) Continue holding the Power + Wireless buttons until you see the SD Loader appear on the screen, then release them. 8) Scroll down to the ROM you want to flash to highlight it (if you have more than one on the SD Card) 9) Press the center button on the D-Pad twice to start the flash process. You can look at a YouTube video here by Drakey83: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEDvCklrNs0 ATTENTION: ALL DATA ON YOUR AXIM WILL BE LOST !!!!!! |

Hi. Does anyone know of an alternate method of getting the x51v into bootloader mode other than the Wireless/Power?Reset method? My wireless button no longer works (confirmed with built in hardware diagnostics) and unless there's another way, I'll be using ver 8 from here on.
I was guessing that there should be some way since the "official" ROMs loaded via USB. Closest thing I was able to do was extract a file from a EXE ROM that put the Axim into "waiting for USB handshaking" mode, but wasn't able to do anything from there. Thanks, Jeff NF |

If someone could decompile the Dell package, it would do the Axim community a service of convenience. I have the tools but I am not sure I am bright enough LOL. Also, I do not have a spare Axim to test it on. ![]() |

Does the flash work with a CF card?
I currently only have a 512mb card from a digital camera that I keep music and stuff on now but I'm going to try it to see if it works. I'm guessing going into the boot loader (whatever its really called) and seeing if it shows up wont hurt, I could just reset it and try to find an SD card if it doesn't work..... right? I'm almost positive it won't harm a thing if it doesn't see anything since I've done my share of modding my PSP (physically hacking the original 1001 battery to get into service mode) so I'll try it and post how it does. |

Hey W0lf_e57yn,
Have you tried taking off your Axim's case and checking out the button? It is pretty easy to snap off. Maybe you could take a look and use a very small screw driver or paper clip to activate the connection. |

Hello Lenny,
Thanks for the tutorial link for Drakey. I followed everthing to a tee ( trying L11). Unfortunately it told me unsupported fat disk. I don't know if its a fat 32 but i do know its a fat card and my vista is 32 bit. In my computer it says FAT but no 32 beside it. :Any suggestions would be appreciated!! Thanks dude, Ifor. ![]() |

FAT is different to FAT32. You need to re-format your SD card, choosing FAT32 from the dropdown list of formats. If your PC is anything like mine it defaults to FAT unless you change the setting.

Hi all. Trying to flash to L11. Downloaded, extracted to a freshly formatted SD card (fat32), jumped up and down while rubbing my stomach and patting my head till I get SD Image Update A10_G4 -> DiAd_K_Aximx51v_WM61_L11EN.nb0 but can't get it any further. Pressing center button on D pad twice does nothing??????
TIA |

As it turns out my hard buttons are not functional, settings are set to they're defaults. Ribbon cable unseated? Any other things to check?
Thanks |

This is a common problem. 99% of the time, it is due to a corrupted format on the SD card. Just reformat and recopy the files onto the card. Make sure you have both files and make sure it is not a HD card. the bootloader doesn't recognize the HD cards, only the OS (ROM) does

Hi I got the wsod on my x51v after fixing the battery latch problem by jumpering the battery latch switch. I've followed your posted instructions on how to flash the ROM via a SD card formatted FAT32 and loaded it with the two extracted files (the nb0 & crc) when I pressed the wireless button and power button and did the soft reset, I have the SD loader appear on the screen but after I release the wireless & power buttons it disappears and nothing happens after I push the D-pad button twice either. I'd appreciate any help on this dilemma. and THANKS in advance for your help. Wallyo

Hi,
I recently loaded the SDHC compatability patch into my Axim hoping it would solve the fact that when I brought up the boot loader to load WM6, it wouldn't bring up the ROM (obviously because the SD I was using was, in fact, SDHC). Because of the patch installation, my Axim x51v now reads SDHC cards, but the ROM image still won't show up in the boot menu... any ideas? |
